Inside a conventional acoustic piano, hammers strike the strings, and the string vibration is transmitted to the soundboard that occupies much of the piano’s interior, amplifying the sound. In place of string vibration, the TransAcoustic™ Piano produces sound through vibrations generated by a transducer, which converts digital sound into vibrations which are then transmitted directly to the soundboard. So even though the sounds are digital, they can be reproduced with the rich resonance unique to acoustic instruments, playing the sound through the same mechanism and process as an acoustic piano.
