RSio64-DI/O Rack

The RSio64-D is an audio interface that can convert between Dante and Mini-YGDAI formats for up to 64 inputs and 64 outputs

Features

The Extensive Mini-YGDAI Card Lineup on a Dante Network

The RSio64-D, the latest addition to the R series, is an audio interface that can convert between Dante and Mini-YGDAI formats for up to 64 inputs and 64 outputs. It provides versatile routing capability as well. Four Mini-YGDAI card slots allow cards for a wide variety of input/output formats as well as processing functions to be connected to a Dante network for live sound, broadcast, recording, post production, and other applications. The RSio64-D also supports remote setup from CL and QL series consoles.

  • Flexibility Ready for a Wide Range of Applications

Mini-YGDAI cards offer a multitude of I/O and processing options

More than 30 types of Mini-YGDAI card can be used with the RSio64-D. Not only I/O cards that handle formats like AES/EBU or ADAT, but processing cards that provide capabilities such as Lake processing and Dan Dugan automatic mixing as well.

Seven general routing presets, including routing between Mini-YGDAI cards

To make the RSio64-D even more convenient and easy to use as a format converter and router, presets for seven basic routing patterns are built in, including routing between Mini-YGDAI cards. A rotary switch on the front panel allows direct selection of one-to-one Dante/Mini-YGDAI routing, branched Mini-YGDAI/Mini-YGDAI routing, and other options designed to suit a variety of applications. One programmable user setup is also provided.

  • Reliability No interruptions

Supports matrix patching from R Remote V3 or a CL/QL series console

Used with the R Remote software application or a CL or QL series console, matrix patching is supported so that more complex routing can be set up as required.

Sample rate converters for all four Mini-YGDAI slots

Word clock synchronization becomes an issue when interfacing between different audio formats. Each Mini-YGDAI slot includes a sample rate converter (SRC) so that devices operating on different word clocks can be connected without causing noise or signal interruptions.

EXT DC INPUT for redundant power supplies

In addition to the main AC IN connector, an external +24V DC power source can be connected to an XLR-4-32 type EXT DC INPUT connector to serve as a backup for the primary internal power supply. The main AC input also features a latched socket (V-Lock) that helps to prevent accidental disconnection.

Supports Dante redundancy

Reliability is excellent too, with full support for Dante primary and secondary network redundancy that can contributes to solid, uninterruptable infrastructure. Accidental cable disconnection or network switch failure will not disrupt network operation or interrupt the audio signal. In cases where redundancy is not required, the primary and secondary ports can be switched for quick, easy daisy-chain connection.

Systems

  • System Examples Endless Potential

With support for Yamaha's comprehensive range of Mini-YGDAI cards and seven preset routing patterns plus one user-programmable routing pattern, the RSio64-D can function as a key component in an almost unlimited variety of applications.

Example 1: Interfacing to amp racks and RF receivers

With four MY16-AE AES/EBU cards installed, the AES/EBU output from RF receivers can be converted to Dante format and fed to a CL or QL series console, while the Dante signal is converted to AES/EBU for connection to digital-input power amplifiers. Sample rate converters are provided for each of the RSio64-D slots, so devices operating on different word clocks can be connected without causing signal interruptions or increasing noise.

Example 2: Lake processing 1

In this example MY8-LAKE processor cards are installed in slots 1 and 3 while MY8-DA96 cards are installed in slots 2 and 4. With this setup Dante input from a CL or QL series console can be fed to the MY8-LAKE cards and then simultaneously output via Dante, the AES/EBU outputs of the MY8-LAKE card, and the analog outputs of the MY8-DA96 card after processing.

* The RSio64-D sample rate converters cannot be used with the MY8-LAKE AES/EBU inputs. Word clock synchronization must be provided if the MY8-LAKE AES/EBU inputs are to be used.

Example 3: Lake processing 2

The RSio64-D can be used as a stand-alone Lake processor with analog and digital I/O if MY8-LAKE cards are installed in slots 1 and 3 while MY8-ADDA96 cards are installed in slots 2 and 4. This setup also allows the analog input signals to be connected to a Dante network.

* The RSio64-D sample rate converters cannot be used with the MY8-LAKE AES/EBU inputs. Word clock synchronization must be provided if the MY8-LAKE AES/EBU inputs are to be used.

Example 4: EtherSound Bridge and AVIOM

An AVIOM16/O-Y1 AVIOM card installed in slot 1 allows connection to a personal monitor system. If an MY16-ES64 EtherSound card is also installed in slot 2 while MY16-EX I/O expansion cards are installed in slots 3 and 4, it becomes possible to simultaneously convert between Dante and EtherSound. The sample rate converters provided for each RSio64-D slots allow Dante and EtherSound signals based on different word clocks to be connected without causing signal interruptions or increasing noise.

Example 5: Video I/O

Four MY8-SDI-ED embed/de-embed cards can be installed in the RSio64-D slots to provide bi-directional conversion between Dante and HD-SDI/SD-SDI signals. The sample rate converters provided for each RSio64-D slots allow devices operating on different word clocks to be connected without causing signal interruptions or increasing noise.
