The first baritone saxophone in the Yamaha custom lineup introduces new standards of baritone sax design backed by years of research and development. The YBS-82 responds to the needs of players who are serious about tone, adding mid and high range brilliance to the instrument’s fat baritone low end.
Much more than just a low-part instrument, the YBS-82 has the versatility to take on solo roles as well.
Features
YBS-82 Neck
Newly designed custom C1 neck is included. It has a good reponse in producing sound, which enables the player to control the sound without losing the "core" of the sound.
YBS-82 Neck receiver
Custom neck receiver allows you to chose between 3 taper options (C, E, V) and six finish options to help you find your ideal sound.
Ergonomic key layout (YBS-82/62/480)
A new key layout is featured on new YBS-82/62/480 that prioritizes ergonomics. It can be played comfortably despite its larger size, resulting in outstanding playability.
Integrated key posts
This style of key posts adds a moderate resistance and makes the instrument sound as you blow into it.
Adjustable tear drop front F key
The unique tear-drop shaped F key improves playability. It is adjustable to players' preferences.
Mother of pearl key button
Mother of pearl is used as key buttons. It improves playability by making it easier to hold with soft but not slippery surface.
Seesaw key
The left-hand seesaw key has been designed to increase playability as well as provide a more comfortable feel.
Two-point contact
Two-point contact is adopted for enhanced projection and a free-blowing response.
One-piece bell
Crafsmen shape the bell from a sheet of brass with a hammer. This adds a unity to the body and makes the intonation in middle to lower range smoother. It also has a solid tone.
YBS-82
The Custom YBS-82 features a ‘anemone’ engraving design which is hand engraved on every instrument. Custom logo is the proof of craftmanship.
Bell-ring
Bell rings supports the instrument to vibrate well when players blow into it.
Separate style key guard
The separate key guards feature adjustable screw cap stoppers for professional-style technical adjustments.
Improved low B-C# connection
An improved mechanism from low B-C# connection ensures the consistent closing of the low C# key and promotes a clear response from notes in the low range of the instrument.
Newly designed peg and peg post
A peg and peg post are newly designed. The light weighed peg and peg post reduce the influence on the sound when the peg is equipped.
*Peg is included in YBS-82 and optional for YBS-480 and YBS-62.
Case (BSC-62III)
A new hard case with wheels helps move the instrument safely and easily.

YBS-82 can be ordered without a High F# key for a more efficient response.
